Compassion Arts Festival celebrated its 4th year on October 21st-27th 2018 around Massachusetts with a week of film, music, and events. Culture & Animals Foundation was proud to support these events and to see several grantees taking part. First, Compassion Arts was an exhibitor at the Boston Veg Food Festival and hosted a talk “You Art What You Eat: The Arts, Animals, and Vegan Transformation” featuring artist/curator and grantee Jane O’Hara, composer/musician and grantee Michael Harren, poet/spoken word artist and grantee Donald Vincent, aka Mr. Hip, Compassion Arts founder/director Ellie Sarty and Food Chain friends. The Rattle & the Thunder, an original music narrative, kicked off the first night of the festival. It included many performers who took part in the 2017 Compassion Arts & Culture and Animals Festival. Next, Michael Harren performed his multi-media theater piece, The Animal Show. Jane O’Hara was an emcee for a film talk. And Donald Vincent led a literary webinar of writers, poets, spoken word artists to discuss vegan awareness, cultivating peace, and positive social change.
