Camilla Calamandrei was a filmmaker at Rolling River Films for eight years, where she was an award-winning creative producer and director. She was also a content development specialist, passionate about climate change mitigation and equitable development of cities. CAF provided her with a grant to continue filmmaking what became The Tiger Next Door, available for 99 cents on Vimeo here. Before there was Tiger King with its “real-life bizarre personalities and sinister plot twists” (Variety) there was The Tiger Next Door “a beautifully made film that moves us inside a community in conflict over an emotional issue” (Huff Post). The film tells the story of Dennis Hill, who appears in Tiger King in episode 3, and has been breeding and selling tigers from his backyard in Flat Rock, Indiana for over fifteen years. When it was first produced, Tom Regan wrote that the film is “a gripping moral tale that deserves the largest possible viewership, because of what it teaches us about being a tiger, and what it teaches us about being a human being.”
